DVD Duplication
As with CDs, there are two ways that you can create DVDs–from scratch or by copying them. When DVDs are duplicated, they are copied or “burned” from a master disc. This is usually supplied on DVD-R media. Depending on the equipment used to copy the discs, many copies can be made at once.
For larger runs, at the company we use a replication process instead. When you replicate DVDs, just as with CDs, a glass master is created, and new DVDs are made that are exact replicas of the glass master. They are stamped from the master, ensuring that there is no loss of quality.
Depending on how many copies of your media that you need to make, replication and duplication are surprisingly affordable. If you need thousands of copies of your corporate video, for example, the cost to do it this way will be much lower per disc, the more copies you make. If you only need a few hundred copies, it will be more cost effective to use duplication instead.
At our company, we often help our customers author DVDs as well. When you have a large capacity of information to store, placing it on DVD makes good economic sense. It is more portable and much more cost effective than the same amount of data printed on paper. If you would like to use our authoring services or simply have us replicate or duplicate your master DVDs, please feel free to call us.
